Building and contents claim reporting

When damage occurs in an apartment or house, two things matter most: securing the remaining property and quickly reporting the event to PZU. Below, we outline what steps to take, how to contact the insurer, and the rules governing compensation payouts.

How to proceed in the event of a claim?

First, secure the remaining property to prevent further damage. Depending on the event, this may involve calling the fire department or notifying the police (e.g., in the case of burglary). Next, notify PZU of the damage as soon as possible – no later than within 7 days from the date of the event.

Building & contents insurance claim reporting

You can report a claim to PZU in three ways:

  • online via zgloszenie.pzu.pl.
  • by email to kontakt@pzu.pl.
  • by phone at 801 102 102 or 22 566 55 55.

When can PZU deny compensation?

Every insurance policy has exceptions – known as coverage exclusions – under which PZU may reduce or deny compensation altogether. It is important to know them, as some directly depend on whether you fulfill your obligations as a property owner (e.g., leaving a door unlocked or a window unsealed could result in a denial of compensation after a burglary).
