Managing your policy

Find out when coverage starts, how long the waiting period is, how policy renewal works, what happens after your pet's death or when the sum insured runs out, and what to do if you want to cancel.

When does coverage start after purchasing a policy?

From the start date you select, but remember the waiting period:

  • Treatment costs arising from illness – full coverage only starts after 60 days.
  • Insurance for costs related to the death of an animal due to illness – 60-day waiting period from the policy start.

Treatment costs resulting from an accident are covered from day one.

If you renew without a break – the waiting period does not restart.

Until what age can I renew my pet's policy?

The policy can be renewed until the animal turns 10, but it must be taken out before the age of 8. With continuous coverage there are more benefits:

  • If the next policy starts the day after the previous one ended, the agreement is treated as a continuation.
  • In this case, the animal can be insured until it turns 10.
  • With continuation, the waiting period does not restart.

Note! The scope of the continued coverage cannot be broader than in the previous agreement.

Can I pay the premium in instalments?

Yes! You can pay upfront for a year or monthly – whichever works better for your budget. The monthly payment price may differ slightly from the annual one.

What happens to the policy after the pet's death?

Insurance coverage expires on the day of the animal's death. Importantly:

  • You are entitled to a refund of the premium for the unused coverage period.
  • The death costs clause continues to apply – despite the coverage expiring, we cover the refundable costs related to the animal's death: euthanasia, cremation (group or individual), burial and transport.

The animal's death must be reported within 7 days, together with a certificate from a veterinarian. If the animal died in an accident at the scene, other evidence is sufficient: a police report, witness statements, or photographic documentation.

What happens to the policy when the sum insured is exhausted during the year?

Nothing happens to the policy itself, but the insurer will no longer pay out from the coverage where the sum was exhausted. If you've used up the entire treatment cost sum insured, remember that you can still file claims under liability insurance and legal protection (if you have the appropriate plan).

Treatment costs also have sub-limits for specific categories, e.g. 1,000 PLN/2,500 PLN for self-administered medications or 1,000 PLN for chemotherapy. Exhausting a sub-limit doesn't end the entire policy – only that cost category.
