Purchasing building and contents policy
Building & contents insurance is purchased online through your simpl.rent account, and the entire process takes just a few minutes. During purchase, you determine the value of the property (and optionally the furnishings as well), which constitutes the sum insured, and, if needed, you can add a transfer of insurance rights to a bank.
Buying a policy
How to purchase a policy?
The purchase takes place entirely online through your simpl.rent account in the Insurance tab. During the purchase process, you specify the value of the apartment or house you wish to insure (this is the sum insured), and, if needed, you can add contents/furnishings insurance and a transfer of insurance rights to the lending bank. After paying for the policy, you will receive a full set of documents – policy, policy summary, and General Terms and Conditions (T&Cs/OWU) – sent to your email address.
Documents and policy service
You will find your insurance documents – policy, policy summary, and General Terms and Conditions (T&Cs/OWU) – in your simpl.rent account. If you want to change details on your policy or cancel coverage, please email us at info@simpl.rent.
Purchase conditions
To purchase building & contents insurance, the following conditions must be met:
- The insured person (the individual named on the policy) holds legal title to the property as its owner or co-owner.
- The property is located in Poland.
- The property is intended for residential purposes – no business activities are conducted within it.
A policy can also be purchased on behalf of another person. In that case, the purchaser acts as the policyholder, while the owner or co-owner remains the insured party. The insurance is available to private individuals, real estate agencies, and companies that own residential property, for example, for rental purposes.
Sum insured and property value
The sum insured is the value of your apartment or house – meaning the maximum amount you can receive in the event of a claim. When determining this value, ask yourself whether it would be sufficient to purchase a similar property in your area – remember that real estate prices typically increase over time. Do not undervalue your property, as in the event of major damage, the compensation might not be enough to buy a new apartment, for instance.
When establishing the value, comparing several current offers for similar properties is helpful – preferably calculated per square meter, taking into account total floor space, technical condition, and finishing standard. For example: an apartment bought 5 years ago for 500,000 PLN might today be worth around 580,000 PLN due to price growth – and the sum insured should be closer to that figure. If you are also insuring contents/furnishings, you determine their value separately (the most frequently selected amount is 20,000 PLN); we cover this in more detail in the coverage scope article.
Transfer of insurance rights (Cesja)
If the property was purchased with a mortgage, you will likely need a transfer of insurance rights. A transfer of insurance rights is the voluntary transfer of claim compensation rights to the bank providing the mortgage for the insured property. You can add it directly during the policy purchase process.
