At simpl.rent, we make buying and managing tenant insurance simple not only for tenants, but for property owners as well. As a result, landlords can easily ensure that the policy remains active throughout the lease and quickly access coverage details whenever needed.

Two possible ways to purchase tenant insurance

1) Inviting the tenant to purchase insurance

The landlord can invite the tenant to buy a policy through their simpl.rent account. The tenant will receive an email invitation and go through the standard purchasing process. The difference is that during the process, an additional prompt will ask for consent to share policy details with the inviter. This gives the landlord peace of mind knowing that the policy has been purchased and allows them to report a claim independently if needed.

2) Purchase of the policy by the property owner

The landlord can purchase a policy on behalf of the tenant even if they themselves could potentially become the injured party. This is made possible by specific additional provisions in the T&Cs.

During the purchase process, the tenant can choose to share their policy details. The landlord (or the inviting party) will then see the following information directly in their account:

• Policy status (whether it is active).
• Validity period.
• Scope of coverage.

Additionally, the landlord can use a dedicated claim form, which simplifies claim handling and filing information with the insurer (details in the article: Tenant insurance claim reporting).

1. Log in to your simpl.rent account.
2. Go to the Insurance tab.
3. Select the Invite tenant to purchase option.
4. Enter the address of the rented apartment, followed by the tenant's email address, and send the invitation.
5. The tenant will receive an email with a purchase link.
6. Once the insurance is purchased and the tenant shares their data, the invitation status will change to active.
